Plant color is living color. Some dyes, like indigo and madder, hold up very well to light, while bright flower yellows can soften over years in strong sun. Hang pieces out of direct sunlight and behind UV-protective glass to keep the color true.
-
Keep framed and hanging pieces out of direct sun and damp rooms, and dust them gently. For dyed textiles you use, like napkins or tea towels, wash cold with a gentle pH-neutral soap and dry out of direct sun.
-
Every piece is dyed by hand from whole plants, so color shifts with the harvest, the water and the season. That variation is part of the work.
-
Fiber pieces are $400 plus $1.50 per square inch, with stretcher bars included. Illustration and collage are $200 plus $30 an hour. A 50% deposit begins the piece. See the full process on the commission page.
