There is something about a persimmon to me that is so breath taking, so I needed to sit and draw it. Persimmons are also a rich natural dye.

Kakishibu has a rich cultural heritage that dates back centuries in ancient Japan. This natural dye, derived from fermented unripe persimmon fruit, holds a special place in Japanese traditional crafts of textiles, paper and woodwork. Renowned for its rich amber colour, durability, and eco-friendly properties.

About

I'm Sayde Laine, a fiber artist who grows and forages the plants I dye with. Each piece starts in the garden and ends on stretcher bars, with color that shifts naturally from batch to batch.
