Of Plants and Place

Solo exhibition · Saugatuck Center for the Arts, Saugatuck, Michigan · May 26th to September 8th

Of Plants and Place traces my childhood in the Colorado foothills, where I explored colored clay and a native flower garden. The work in this show is a playful continuation of those early explorations.

My practice sits at the intersection of plant-based color, textiles and environmentalism, and asks who we are as nurturers of the land and our communities. I forage for and grow dye plants, and I usually work with whole plants rather than extracts, following the seasonal color of plants native to North Carolina.

The exhibition was part of my artist residency at the Saugatuck Center for the Arts.
